The Mavericks were also reportedly interested in keeping Carter.

The 37-year-old averaged 11.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 81 games last season for Dallas, all off the bench. The 1999 Rookie of the Year is an eight-time All-Star and a 16-year veteran of the Raptors, Nets, Magic, Suns and Mavericks.
