Clippers forward Blake Griffin has a small back fracture, forcing him to withdraw from the Team USA training camp.
Griffin withdrew last week after he was one of 19 players selected to the USA roster. Team USA is practicing in Las Vegas in preparation for the FIBA World Cup, which starts next month in Spain.
According to the report, doctors advised Griffin to rest and heal the injury so he can be ready for the upcoming NBA season.
Griffin was injured during the playoffs and is expected to make a full recovery. Team USA rounded out its front court roster with Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap after Griffin and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love withdrew from the team.
Griffin averaged 24.1 points and 9.5 rebounds in 80 regular season games and 23.5 points in 13 playoff games last season.
