Police arrest suspect in murder of Matt Barnes' aunt

Sacramento Police took Michael Williams, a suspect in the murder of Tanganyika Hoover, into custody Tuesday after receiving a citizen tip. The police were aided in their search for Williams by Hoover's nephew, Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes, who used his Twitter and Instagram accounts to ask for help in locating Williams.

Sacramento Police took a suspect in the murder of Tanganyika Hoover, the aunt of Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes, into custody Tuesday, according to a tweet from the department.

The police arrested Michael Williams for Hoover's murder after receiving a citizen tip. Hoover died of stab wounds to the neck on July 8. ABC News reports that Hoover and Williams knew each other and were staying at a friend's house that morning. 

On July 22, Barnes took to his Twitter and Instagram accounts to ask for the public's help in locating his aunt's assailant: "This dude stabbed my auntie in the neck last week & left her for dead on the sidewalk, she ended up dying on the way to the hospital in the ambulance. If you hv any info on his where abouts contact the #SacPD # SacramentoWeNeedYourHelp #RIPTang."

In an interview with ABC News, Barnes said, "Having the platform that I have, I wanted to speak out on social media... When it’s your family, you just feel like you … you can do more. You want to do more."
