Team USA point guard Derrick Rose said injuries are not the reason for his recent inconsistent performance, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Rose, who is returning from a pair of knee surgeries, has sat out practices and an exhibition game as the team prepares for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. He played against Slovenia on Tuesday and scored three points on 0-3 shooting with three turnovers in 21 minutes.

The 2011 NBA MVP brushed aside questions about how his health is impacting his performance.

"I'm past my injuries," Rose said.

Rose came off the bench against Slovenia behind guards Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving.

Team USA plays Finland at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday to open World Cup play. The tournament concludes on Sept. 14.
