France upsets Spain in FIBA World Cup

France upset Spain, 65-52, in the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Cup on Wednesday.

France will face Serbia in one semifinal on Friday. Team USA faces Lithuania in the other semifinal on Thursday.

A potential finals matchup between Team USA and Spain, both of whom went unbeaten in group play, had been highly anticipated.

Forward Boris Diaw led France with 15 points, and center Joffrey Lauvergne added four points and 10 rebounds. 

France is playing without two of its top players, Tony Parker and Joakim Noah, while Spain features Pau and Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka and Ricky Rubio.
