Free agent Xavier Silas is close to signing a contract with the Washington Wizards, according to Shams Charania of Real GM.

Silas last played in the NBA in 2011-12, when he averaged 5.5 points over two games with the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound guard went to training camp last year with the Wizards but was released in October. Silas averaged 16.4 points and 3.0 rebounds over nine games with MaccabiAshdod in Israel.

He has also played in the NBA D-League and Summer league since going undrafted out of Northern Illinois in 2011.
