Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said Friday that star shooting guard Kobe Bryant's minutes will be managed this season.

Bryant missed all but six games last season due to injuries. The 36-year-old is entering his 19th season in the league. Kupchak also said that Bryanthas lost 10-12 pounds.

Bryant, who averaged 16.9 points and 5.3 rebounds over six games last season, is ranked No. 24 on SI.com's list of top 100 players.

The Lakers open the regular season Oct. 28 against the Houston Rockets.
