Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James said his summer weight loss "had nothing to do with basketball," according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Speaking at the Cavaliers' Media Day, James said he presented it as a personal challenge to himself.

James recently told CNN's Rachel Nichols that he went on 67-day diet during the offseason and did not eat carbs, sugar or dairy. He said his weight is now in the "250ish range" and that he's quicker on the court as a result, which is "not such a good thing for the competition."

The forward announced in July that he was returning to Cleveland after four seasons with the Miami Heat. Last season, James averaged 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
