The Indiana Pacers have signed head coach Frank Vogel to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. The team did not release the terms of the contract.

Vogel, 41, has a 167-100 record since being named head coach in January 2011. The Pacers have made two straight appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals, losing each time to the Miami Heat. They finished first in the Eastern Conference during the regular season last year.

“We’re very happy to extend Frank’s contract,” Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird said in a press release. “I believe he has done a great job and I look forward to continuing our relationship and working together to achieve all of our goals.”

This season, the Pacers will be without a pair of starters from last year's team. Small forward Paul George is expected to miss the entire season after breaking his leg during a Team USA scrimmage in August, but said last week he is hopeful he can return for the playoffs. Shooting guard Lance Stephenson left via free agency to sign a three-year, $27 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets. Stephenson averaged career highs of 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season.

Indiana signed former Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey to a one-year contract to fill Stephenson's void in the backcourt. C.J. Miles started at small forward during the team's preseason opener on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Pacers open the regular season against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 29.
