The Miami Heat have signed point guard Larry Drew II, the team announced on Monday.

Drew averaged 11.4 points and 7.0 assists over 41 games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA D-League last season. The 24-year-old appeared in 11 Summer League games with the Heat this year.

The Heat now count 19 players on their roster, four more than the in-season limit of 15. As Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel notes, the team is likely to cut Drew before the team's Oct. 29 regular season opener against the Washington Wizards.

Other point guards on the Heat's roster include Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier, whom the team acquired in a draft-night trade with the Charlotte Hornets.

Drew first signed with the Heat in September 2013 after spending three seasons at North Carolina and one at UCLA, where he averaged 7.5 points and 7.3 assists en route to earning first team All-Pac-12 honors.
