Lowry leads Raptors past Wizards 103-84

TORONTO (AP) Dressed in the same pinstriped purple dinosaur jersey that Damon Stoudamire once wore, Kyle Lowry broke a record belonging to the former Toronto point guard.

Lowry had 13 points, 10 assists and a season-high 11 rebounds for his first triple-double of the season, leading the Raptors to a 103-84 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night.

DeMar DeRozan scored 25 points for the Raptors, who are off to the first 5-1 start in team history. Terrence Ross scored a season-high 18 points, and Lou Williams had 13.

It was the sixth triple-double of Lowry's career and his fourth with Toronto, one more than Stoudamire had in his 2 1/2 seasons with the Raptors.

''Man, that's big,'' Lowry said when told he had taken Stoudamire's place in the Raptors' record book. ''I've got to text him.''

Lowry sealed his triple-double by feeding Patrick Patterson for a 3-pointer with 1:14 remaining.

Otto Porter scored 13 points and Kris Humphries had 11 for the Wizards, who lost for the first time since a season-opening defeat at Miami.

Washington shot 30 for 83 for a season-worst 36.1 percent. The Wizards' previous low of 37.4 percent was set in Wednesday's overtime win against Indiana.

Each of Washington's starting five scored in single digits. Garret Temple was 0 for 6 from the field, and Nene went 2 for 11. Paul Pierce was 3 for 11 and John Wall went 3 for 13. Marcin Gortat was the most efficient, going 3 for 7.

''They outplayed us in all facets,'' Temple said. ''They were so much more physical than us at both ends of the court. We just have to forget this game.''

Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas returned to Toronto's starting lineup. Johnson had missed the past three games with a sore left ankle, while Valanciunas was shelved for Wednesday's win at Boston after injuring his right hand in Tuesday's victory over Oklahoma City.

Johnson, however, did not make it through the game. He headed to the locker room after aggravating his ankle injury in the third quarter.

Ross scored 11 points in the first, making all three of his 3-point shots, to help Toronto to a 28-18 lead.

''He was very explosive, he got everything started,'' Raptors coach Dwane Casey said of Ross.

Williams had nine and DeRozan added eight in the second to lead the Raptors to a 59-35 halftime edge.

UNWELCOME VISITOR

Pierce, whose last-second block on Lowry helped Brooklyn beat Toronto in Game 7 in the first round of the playoffs last spring, was greeted with a loud chorus of boos in the pregame player introductions, and was jeered every time he touched the ball in the first quarter.

SLIGHTLY SLOPPY

Toronto had a season-high 13 turnovers; it was the first time this season they had more than 10. The Raptors failed to extend their team-record streak of five games with 10 or fewer turnovers. Lowry finished with four turnovers after making just two in Toronto's first five games of the season, both of them in last Sunday's loss at Miami.

UNBEATABLE LEAD

Toronto improved to 5-0 this season when leading after three quarters. Dating to last season, the Raptors are 23-0 at home when taking a lead into the final quarter. The last time they lost at home after leading through three was April 1, 2013, against Detroit.

Raptors: As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, Toronto wore its original jersey from the 1995-96 season. It was the first of seven times the Raptors will wear the jerseys, which they last used in 1999. ... Toronto opened a franchise-record seven-game homestand. Its next road game is Nov. 22 at Cleveland. ... Former Raptors Antonio Davis and Alvin Williams attended the game, as did Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman and former Blue Jays slugger Joe Carter.

Wizards: Washington missed its first eight field-goal attempts before Pierce made a jumper at 8:42 of the first. ... The Wizards set season lows for first-quarter points (18), second-quarter points (17) and first-half points (35). ... Washington missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the first half and started 0 for 10 before Pierce connected at 5:03 of the third. It finished 3 for 19.
