Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson is sitting out Sunday's game against the Suns with a sprained hand, the Warriors said. Leandro Barbosa started in his place.

It's the first time in Thompson's three-year career that he has missed a game due to injury. Thompson, 24, came into Sunday's contest averaging 23.8 points per game and shooting 40.6 percent from 3-point range for the Warriors, who entered into the game against Phoenix as the NBA's lone remaining unbeaten team.

Thompson suffered the injury in the Warriors' win on Saturday over the Houston Rockets. Nine days ago, he signed a four-year, $70 million contract extension with the club.
