Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzkiwill not play in Saturday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Dallas cited "rest" as the reason Nowitzki is sitting out.

The 36-year-old has played at least 30 minutes in the Mavericks' last four games, including a season-high 39 in a win over the Knicks on Wednesday.

Saturday's matchup with the Sixers marks the second stop of a four-game road trip that also includes meetings with the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.

Over 17 games this season -- his 17th with Dallas since being selected in the first round of the 1998 draft -- Nowitzki has averaged 19.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 28.6 minutes per game.

Earlier this season, Nowitzki, 36, became the highest-scoring international player in NBA history when he passed HakeemOlajuwon on the league's all-time scoring list.

The Mavericks are 12-5 while the 76ers are 0-15.
