DALLAS (AP) Jameer Nelson sat out the Dallas Mavericks' game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night due to a sore right shoulder.

J.J. Barea made his first start of the season in Nelson's place at point guard against the Pelicans.

Nelson, who missed three games last month because of back spasms, had season highs of 18 points and four 3-point field goals Tuesday at Memphis.

Barea also had a season high with 17 points against the Grizzlies.
