Curry, Barbosa lead Warriors to 89-84 win over 76ers

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Golden State coach Steve Kerr thinks his team is tired. You wouldn't be able to tell by its record.

Stephen Curry scored 20 points, Leandro Barbosa had 16 off the bench and the Warriors snapped Philadelphia's four-game home winning streak with an 89-84 victory over the 76ers on Monday night.

Klay Thompson and former Sixer Andre Iguodala added 13 points apiece for the Warriors (41-9), who have won four of five and two straight after opening their four-game road trip with a loss to the Hawks on Friday.

''It just feels like right now we're running on fumes,'' Kerr said. ''I'm actually really proud of the guys for pulling that win out. It wasn't pretty. There wasn't much we did well. But we got a few key individual performances.''

Golden State, the NBA's second-best 3-point shooting team, shot 24.1 percent from behind the arc. Curry and Thompson, the team's star long-range shooters, combined to make just four of their 18 3-point attempts.

But former Sixer Marreese Speights scored three baskets early in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors go on a 16-2 run to take an 81-63 lead. The 76ers scored the next 12 points to pull within six before Iguodala hit an acrobatic layup and Curry followed with a floater to put Golden State up 10 with 2:28 left.

''I think we were playing hard but we just had a rough night,'' Curry said. ''We're not clicking at all. We had a lot of good looks we usually make that didn't go down. When you find a way to win, you can't complain too much, though.''

Robert Covington scored 21 points to pace the 76ers (12-41), who committed 27 turnovers and shot 7 for 24 from 3-point range. Luc Mbah a Moute had 13 points and nine rebounds.

Starting point guard Michael Carter-Williams missed his third straight game with a finger injury for the Sixers, who are off for the next 10 days because of the All-Star break. Tim Frazier, starting his third NBA game, replaced him and committed seven turnovers.

Afterward, though, coach Brett Brown chose to focus on his team's strong defensive effort rather than its offensive miscues.

''I'm so proud of our guys' defensive improvement, their attention to defense,'' Brown said. ''And they take pride in playing defense. They know that is our identity, and to hold a team that averages 111 to 89 points - you can't ask for anything more.''

With the game tied at 46 early in the second half, the Warriors reeled off a quick 9-0 run to take the lead for good.

Golden State closes its road trip Wednesday in Minnesota, before getting nine much-needed days of rest.

''The fact that we're able to continue winning games during the stretch is a testament to the guys' competitiveness and toughness,'' Kerr said. ''But there's no doubt we have to get a lot better. We've really been struggling the last few games.''

The Sixers led for much of the first half and opened a 28-20 lead early in the second quarter on the strength of a 12-2 run. The spurt was highlighted by an electrifying play from K.J. McDaniels, who passed the ball to himself off the backboard and finished with a one-handed jam.

The Warriors, who own the league's best record, quickly scored the next eight to tie the game, capped by Iguodala's dunk, and went into halftime with a two-point lead.

''Very few teams in NBA history have gotten 41 wins in their first 50 games,'' Kerr said. ''I'm incredibly proud. There's probably a reason they're worn out. The break will be coming at a good time.''
