SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) The Sacramento Kings have signed David Stockton, son of Hall of Famer John Stockton, to a 10-day contract.

Kings general manager Pete D'Alessandro announced Stockton's signing Friday. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard is averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 steals in 31 games for the Reno Bighorns, the Kings' NBA Development League affiliate.

The undrafted rookie played in college at Gonzaga, where his dad also starred. He was selected by the Maine Red Claws in the third round of the D-League draft on Nov. 1 and immediately traded to Reno.

Stockton will wear No. 9 and be available for Friday night's game against the Boston Celtics. His father, John, played 19 seasons for the Utah Jazz and retired in 2003 with an NBA-record 15,806 assists.
