Golden State Warriors center Marreese Speights has been suspended for one game without pay and will miss Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets, the NBA announced. Speights received the suspension for pleading no contest to an August reckless driving charge, in violation of Florida law.
Speights received the suspension after pleading no contest last week to an August reckless driving charge. He was originally charged with driving under the influence. A plea agreement was reached after Speights' attorney argued evidence was obtained via an illegal traffic stop.
A key reserve for the Western Conference-leading Warriors, Speights has averaged 11 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game this season. Speights is shooting 49.7 percent from the floor and 82.8 percent from the free throw line.
Golden State has won five straight games entering tonight's contest.
