Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside cut his hand on the rim during Tuesday’s loss to the Bucks and needed 10 stitches, ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reports.

Whiteside left the game with the injury midway through the second quarter and did not return. The Heat went on to lose 89-88 on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Khris Middleton.

Whiteside told reporters that he received shots to numb the pain and is uncertain if he will play on Wednesday against the Celtics.

“I don't know if I am going to be able to play tomorrow,” Whiteside said. “We are going to see how it feels, day to day.”

Whiteside is averaging 11.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game this season.

The Heat are already without power forward Chris Bosh, who was lost for the season with blood clots on his lung.

Miami is 32-38 on the season and the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Heat have a one-game lead over the No. 8 seed Celtics and 1.5 game lead over the No. 9 seed Hornets.
