Monday April 6th, 2015

Atlanta Hawks All-Star forward Paul Millsap has a contusion and sprain in his right shoulder and will miss Tuesday's and Wednesday's games, the team announced Monday.

The nature of the injury was first reported by Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Millsap will miss Tuesday’s home game against the Phoenix Suns and Wednesday’s road contest against the Nets.

Millsap was injured in the second quarter of Atlanta’s 131-99 victory over the Nets on Saturday after colliding with Brooklyn forward Earl Clark while going for a loose ball. He left the game after playing 17 minutes, scoring eight points with five assists and three rebounds, and did not return.

The victory over the Nets was the Hawks’ 57th of the season, setting a new single-season record.

NBA playoff race: Projected matchups

Millsap, 30, is averaging 16.8 points, 7.8 assists and three assists in 72 games this season for Atlanta, which has already wrapped up the Eastern Conference’s best record and home-court advantage throughout the East playoffs.
