Kyrie Irving suffers knee injury in Game 1, to undergo MRI on Friday

Kyrie Irving, who has battled knee and ankle injuries for much of the playoffs, limped off the floor at the end of the Cavaliers' Game 1 loss to the Warriors.

Kyrie Irving suffered a knee injury late in the Warriors' 108–100 overtime win over the Cavaliers in Game 1 on Thursday.

Irving, who has battled knee and ankle injuries for much of these playoffs, injured his knee while driving against the Warriors' Klay Thompson with just over two minutes left in OT. Irving took a hard step before falling to the ground and grimacing immediately. He corralled the ball to finish the possession, but couldn't fight off the pain after the play was done.

The Cavaliers announced after the game that Irving would undergo an MRI on Friday morning. Irving walked out of Oracle Arena on crutches after being treated and evaluated by the team's training staff. His status for Game 2 is uncertain.

"I felt something different in my knee and I couldn't continue to play," Irving said after Game 1. "Obviously, you can tell by the tone in my voice, I'm a little worried."

After leaving the floor in overtime, Irving hobbled to the locker room with a visible limp. He held it together while walking on the court, but ripped his jersey off and threw it to the ground once he entered the tunnel. ABC cameras caught Irving in serious pain as he made the final steps to the locker room. Irving's dad, Drederick, also ran to the locker room to check on his son. Irving finished the game with 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 44 minutes.
