Hours after the Indiana Pacers traded center Roy Hibbert to the Los Angeles Lakers, former Lakers power forward Jordan Hill was on the verge of signing a contract with the Pacers, according to a Sporting News report

Hill averaged a career-best 12 points and 7.9 rebounds per game last season for the Lakers. He arrived in Los Angeles in the middle of the 2011–2012 season when he was traded by the Houston Rockets in exchange for then-veteran guard and current New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher.

Hill signed a two-year contract with the Lakers last summer, but the 6'10" Arizona product exercised his second-year player option and opted to become a free agent. The Knicks drafted Hill with the eighth pick in the 2008 NBA draft.

Departing Indiana with Hibbert is forward David West, who agreed to a deal with the San Antonio Spurs, but the Pacers re-signed guard Rodney Stuckey and forward Paul George for the 2015–2016 season.

Indiana also landed one of the bigger free agents on the market this off-season when it agreed to a four-year deal with Monta Ellis, who led the Dallas Mavericks in scoring last season.
