Watch: Heat’s Justise Winslow throws down dunk in debut vs. Hornets

Miami Heat guard Justise Winslow threw down a huge dunk in his first regular season game.

Miami Heat rookie Justise Winslow made his NBA debut in style Wednesday night.

Winslow caught fire late in the second quarter against the Charlotte Hornets, making his first three-pointer as a pro, and then throwing down a baseline dunk that brought MIami fans to their feet.

The Heat selected Winslow 10th overall in July’s NBA draft. Winslow was also part of the national champion Duke team which knocked off Wisconsin in the title game. Former Wisconsin forward Frank Kaminsky, who was selected one spot ahead of Winslow, is playing for the Hornets.

Boston attempted trading numerous first-round picks to move up for Winslow, but the Hornets were sold on Kaminsky.

The Heat led 54–44 at halftime after outscoring Charlotte by 14 in the second quarter, in large part due to Winslow’s energy on both ends of the floor. Miami held on to win 104–94. Winslow finished plus-26 and added seven rebounds to go with his five points.

Heat All-Star Chris Bosh made his return as well after missing the final 30 games of last season due to blood clots on his lung. He detailed the experience to Sports Illustrated’s Lee Jenkins in the off-season.
