LeBron James passes Alex English on NBA’s all-time scoring list
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James passed Alex English to move into 17th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Monday.
English scored 25,613 points in his storied NBA career. James passed the Nuggets legend with his fifth point Monday, which came on a free throw.
English played 16 seasons in the NBA, most notably in Denver from 1979–1990. He averaged at least 20 points per game from 1979–1989, averaging at least 25 a game from 1981–89. English finished with a career average of 21.5 points per game in 1,193 games.
James eclipsed English in only 939 games. The former No. 1 overall pick and four-time MVP has averaged 27.3 points per game in his career. His highest scoring season came in his third year in the league, when he averaged 31.4 points per game. James has not averaged less than 25 points per game since his rookie year.

Efficiency has also been key for James, now in his 13th season. He has shot at least 50% from the field in five seasons, including two over 56% during his last two years in Miami.
James and the Cavaliers are currently in first place in the Eastern Conference.
