Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will return to the bench on Friday to coach against the Indiana Pacers, the team announced.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will return to the bench on Friday to coach against the Indiana Pacers, the team announced Friday.

Kerr took a leave of absence on Oct. 1, 2015 after undergoing a pair of surgeries to repair a ruptured disc in his back. Assistant coach Luke Walton has taken over in his place, leading Golden State to a 39–4 start.

Last season, Kerr won 67 regular-season games in his first season as head coach and led the Warriors to their first NBA Championship in 40 years.

Golden State and Indiana are set to tip at 10:30 p.m. ET in Oakland.
