Warriors become fastest to 50 wins in NBA history
The Golden State Warriors withstood a furious Atlanta Hawks comeback to become the fastest team to 50 wins in NBA history with a 102–92 victory Monday.
The Warriors led by 19 at halftime and by as much as 23 in the second half, only to see the Hawks storm back to take a three-point lead early in the fourth quarter. But Golden State clamped down defensively in the final frame, limiting Atlanta to only 17 points while Stephen Curry scored nine points late to put the game away.

Curry was his sensational self the entire night, scoring 36 points on only 22 shots. His performance was filled with highlights, including this insane pass:

Curry’s Splash Brother Klay Thompson also had a big game, scoring 27 points. The Hawks’ failed comeback ruined strong efforts from Al Horford (23 points and 16 rebounds) and Dennis Schroder (18 points and six assists).

The win kept the Warriors ahead of the 72-win pace of the 1996 Chicago Bulls. The ’96 Bulls took 56 games to win 50, while the ’97 Bulls took 57, as did the 1983 Philadelphia 76ers. All three of those teams won the NBA Finals.
Golden State, now 50–5, next plays against Miami on Wednesday.
