Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has been named the unanimous selection for the 2015–16 NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
Towns, 20, set franchise rookie records for scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. He finished the season averaging 18.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.68 blocks.
He is the fifth unanimous winner since 1984 as he joins Damian Lillard (2012–13), Blake Griffin (2010–11), David Robinson (1989–90) and Ralph Sampson (1983–84). The Timberwolves are also now the first team in 42 years to have back-to-back rookies win the award after Andrew Wiggins won the 2014–15 honors.

A select panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada vote on the award. Towns received all 130 first-place votes to finish with a 650 points. New York Knicks’ big man Kristaps Porzingis finished second with 363 points. Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic rounds out the top three with his respective 59 points.
