Warriors’ Stephen Curry Out at Least Two Weeks With Leg Injury, per Report

Warriors star guard Stephen Curry is expected to miss multiple weeks with a left leg injury suffered Saturday night during a game against the Mavericks, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Curry left in the third quarter of Golden State’s 119–113 win over Dallas after banging knees with Mavs guard McKinley Wright IV when Wright was driving to the basket. Initial X-rays on Curry’s left leg came back negative. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism when discussing his star’s status after the game.

“Anytime a guy gets an MRI, there’s a concern level,” Kerr said. “We’ll just have to wait and see the results. … This is not the first time. He plays hard, and he’s all over the floor. This has happened many, many times over the years. So fingers crossed he’s OK.”

Though Charania reports Curry will miss at least two weeks with the injury to his left leg, Anthony Slater of The Athletic previously reported that the Warriors star only has been ruled out of Monday’s game against the Thunder. Slater later amended his report to indicate that Curry is now likely to miss All-Star weekend and that Golden State is still working on determining an exact timeline for the 34-year-old to return. 

Curry, who received his ninth career All-Star nod last month, has averaged 29.4 points, 6.4 assists and 6.3 rebounds for the Warriors this season. Golden State has scraped together a 27–26 record after last year’s championship and will now have to fight to stay afloat without its floor general.
