Celtics Working Out Two Veteran Forwards This Week, per Report

The Celtics are meeting with free agent forwards T.J. Warren and Lamar Stevens in Boston later this week, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Charania reports that both players will undergo workouts with Boston as the franchise considers how to fill its remaining open roster spots.

Warren, a 2014 lottery pick of the Suns, played his first five seasons in the NBA with Phoenix while enjoying brief stints with the Pacers and Nets. After missing the entire 2021–22 season due to a foot injury, the 29-year-old appeared in 42 games last year with Brooklyn and Phoenix.

In his eight seasons in the NBA, Warren has averaged 14.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

Stevens, a 26 year-old power forward, has played three seasons with the Cavaliers after a solid collegiate career at Penn State. In 165 games, Stevens has averaged 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while coming off the bench.

After being part of the package that sent Max Strus to Cleveland, Stevens was dealt to San Antonio and subsequently waived. Despite his low production on the offensive end of the court, Stevens would become a solid defensive option for Boston along the front line.

Both Warren and Stevens would add solid depth to a Boston squad that lost in seven games to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
