Damian Lillard Breaks Silence on Blockbuster Bucks Trade, While Also Dissing ‘Casuals’

The NBA world was rocked to its core Wednesday afternoon when the news broke that the Trail Blazers made a blockbuster three-team deal that landed Damian Lillard with the Bucks. It didn’t take long for Lillard to chime in on X, formerly known as Twitter, to confirm the news and tease a more formal goodbye for the city of Portland.

“The casuals won’t be addressed but the trailblazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be … and they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned,” he wrote on X. “Excited for my next chapter!”

Lillard demanded a trade and it was widely reported that he would only play for the Heat. His latest post appears to confirm he’s committed to suiting up for Milwaukee.

The 33-year-old has called Portland home since the team drafted him with the No. 6 pick in the 2012 draft, leaving a hole in the franchise that won’t be filled for some time. Meanwhile, the Bucks have paired the seven-time All Star with Giannis Antetokounmpo to form one of the best tandems in basketball—on paper.

Lillard will debut with his new team on Oct. 26 against the 76ers in Milwaukee.
