Pacers’ Myles Turner Builds Legos and Doesn’t Care Whether You Think It’s Cool or Not
It’s not unusual for NBA players to have quirky hobbies off the court.
Heat star Jimmy Butler loves playing cards, Connect 4 and running his coffee company. Bucks guard Damian Lillard loves boxing and recording rap albums. And Pacers forward Myles Turner has no shame in spending hours upon hours building structures with Legos.
In a Friday news conference ahead of Indiana’s NBA in-season tournament championship game against the Lakers on Saturday night, Turner clarified that the excitement for his leisure activity is a serious matter.
“I build Legos. I don’t play with Legos,” Turner told reporters. “That’s literally all I do on my down time. I get back to the crib I kind of just … it’s a way for me to take my mind off things. … I’ve already built 12 different projects. … I’ve gone through a 120,000 Legos since the season started.”
In October, Turner posted a video of his Lego collection at his home in Texas that featured a collage of his best dunk from the 2022-23 season, his own version of a Lego city, as well as his favorite Star Wars and video game characters.
That’s pretty impressive.
Even more impressive than Turner’s love for Legos is his production on the court. Alongside emerging Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, Turner has elevated his production this season.
Through 20 games, Turner is averaging 17.1 points and a career-high 8.0 rebounds per game. Indiana (12–8) currently sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a chance to win the inaugural in-season tournament Saturday in Las Vegas.
Tipoff between the Pacers and Lakers (14–9) is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
