Kevin Garnett Passionately Declares Anthony Edwards Is Like Young Michael Jordan

No one would argue Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards—a two-time All-Star at the tender age of 22—isn't among the top young players in the NBA.

After all, it’s largely his doing that the Timberwolves are a sterling 36–16 record on the heels of back-to-back first round playoff exits.

However, Hall of Fame forward and center Kevin Garnett—a two-time All-Star by the age of 22 with Minnesota once upon a time—has gone a step further. On a star-studded All the Smoke Productions YouTube trade deadline special, Garnett compared Edwards's early years to those of Hall of Fame guard Michael Jordan.

“He’s like a young ’84 Jordan, boy. You hear me?” Garnett declared. “If [forward Karl-Anthony Towns] weren’t on his team, he’d be averaging 30-something points per game. You hear what I’m saying to you?”

Edwards is averaging 25.9 points per game this season, a career high. Jordan averaged 28.2 points per game in 1985, his rookie year.

“’84. Go back and look at it. Look at this young boy,” Garnett asserted.

When Hall of Fame forward and guard—and former Garnett teammate on the Boston Celtics—Paul Pierce pushed back, Garnett was dismissive.

“You ain’t watching the games!” he roared while the panel laughed. “I’m watching the games! Get your s— together, man! Get it together!”
