Austin Rivers Continues to Hold Grudge With Sixers

In this story:
This past offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers decided it was time to make a coaching change. After three seasons at the helm, Doc Rivers was removed from his position as head coach and replaced by longtime Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse.
Since his parting from the Sixers, Rivers has moved back into the world of broadcasting. These days, he can be heard talking about the league as an analyst and broadcaster for ESPN.
Even though Doc Rivers was able to land on his feet, Austin Rivers still seems to be holding a grudge. While appearing on ESPN's First Take, he went off on why he refuses to say anything nice about the Sixers this season. His feelings stem directly from how his father was treated during his time as coach.
"I'm not gonna say anything positive about Philly, man. They did my pops dirty, bro. I got nothing to say about them," Rivers said on First Take. "It is personal. Family over everything, bro. Family first, man. Come on Daryl. I'm talking to you."
Austin Rivers played in over 700 games during his 11-year career but currently finds himself as a free agent. Along with having a contract with ESPN, the former lottery pick also has his own podcast titled 'Off Guard' with The Ringer.
Doc Rivers' tenure with the Sixers was short but was still successful to an extent. He had a regular season record of 154-82 and went 20-15 in the postseason. Among the biggest positives of his time with the Sixers was helping Joel Embiid grow from an All-Star to an MVP-level player.
