Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell Upgraded on Injury Report vs. Sixers

The Cleveland Cavaliers upgraded Donovan Mitchell's status against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to have one of the more difficult endings to the season, with
matches against several Western Contenders, such as the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Yet, they will also take on some stiff competition from the East as they take on
the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

The Cavaliers started the season strong, having won 36 games going into the All-Star break
which saw them sit only behind the Boston Celtics at the top of the Eastern Conference, with
Donovan Mitchell being one of the key reasons for this run.

Prior to the All-Star break, Mitchell would be one of the most consistent guards in the league,
averaging an impeccable 28 points per game on 47 percent from the field, while also dishing out six assists.

However, his reign of dominance would come to a sudden halt in late February due to an injury in his knee, which would flair up again in March following a short return to the court. The original timetable for a potential return was listed as one week in the middle of the month, it appears that it may be close.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Mitchell could make a return to action as soon as Friday night, when the Cavaliers are set to take on the Sixers. Currently, he's questionable on the injury report.

So far this season, Mitchell has only appeared in one game against Philadelphia in which he
would go on to drop 36 points on 45 percent shooting en route to a Cleveland loss. The 27-year-old’s return would be a sight for JB Bickerstaff’s sore eyes as the Cavaliers have struggled recently, posting a record of 4-6 record across their last ten games.

The Sixers and Cavaliers will face off on Friday night with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
