Is Steph Curry Playing Tonight? (Injury Update, Betting Impact for Cavs vs. Warriors)

In this story:
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has not played since Jan. 30, but it appears he's nearing a return to the lineup.
Curry will not play in the second night of a back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he's reportedly targeting a return on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. If Curry is cleared for Sunday's game, it would be a major boost for the Warriors head of the NBA's play-in tournament.

Golden State is coming off a blowout loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, and it's fallen to 13-24 straight up in the 37 games that Curry has missed. The Warriors are 23-16 when the two-time league MVP is in the lineup. As a result, oddsmakers at DraftKings have set the Warriors as 10.5-point home underdogs on Thursday night.
Curry is dealing with "runner's knee" and he's been ramping up to return since the All-Star break. After he didn't scrimmage last week, Curry's potential return was pushed into April, with the Warriors hoping he can play before the end of the regular season.
Golden State has already lost Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody for the rest of the season (and likely into next season), making it an extreme long shot to advance far in the Western Conference playoffs.
In 39 games this season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from 3-point range. It's possible the star guard will be on a minutes restriction once he returns, as the Warriors don't want his knee to return before the postseason.
Golden State has six games left in the regular season, and it's currently four games under .500. If Curry plays against Houston, he'll have a chance to appear in five games to get himself ready for the play-in tournament, where Golden State will likely be the No. 10 seed.
