Kelly Oubre's Rant Results in Fine After Sixers’ Loss vs. Clippers

Philadelphia 76ers veteran Kelly Oubre lands a fine.

Following Wednesday night’s loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, veteran guard Kelly Oubre voiced his displeasure with the officiating crew.

The Philadelphia 76ers guard didn’t hold back. As cameras caught the incident after the game, a viral clip allowed social media to figure out exactly what Oubre was saying.

After the game, Oubre acknowledged the situation, and figured that a fine was coming his way.

“I’ll take whatever penalties come with that,” Oubre told reporters after the game. “I gotta be better in the sense.”

Oubre was apologetic for his words shortly after the game. However, he still netted a fine along with his head coach, Nick Nurse.

“Heat of the moment, this is an intense basketball game, of course, and we’re not perfect,” Oubre said. “The refs aren’t perfect. I want to apologize for just losing my cool because that’s something I try to work on each and every day and try to represent God in the best way I possibly can and that wasn’t it. I just asked for forgiveness.”

On Friday, the NBA announced that Oubre has been fined $50,000 for “verbally abusing and directing an obscene gesture” toward game officials. Nurse was also hit with a fine in the same amount due to “aggressively pursuing and verbally abusing” the officials after the loss.

While the Sixers’ frustrations were justified, considering the crew admitted their mistake on the final play of the game, when a no-call allowed the Clippers to leave the court with a one-point lead, resulting in a victory, Oubre and Nurse will still have to pay for their over-the-top reactions.
