Sixers News: Tyrese Maxey Return Date Revealed

Sixers All-Star expected to be back in action Tuesday against the New York Knicks.

During the Philadelphia 76ers matchup with the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, Tyrese Maxey suffered a blow to head after slipping on a shot attempt. He managed to finish that game, but it was later revealed he wasn't 100%.

Maxey traveled with the Sixers to Brooklyn for their next game, but ended up being sent home. The All-Star guard was dealing with concussion like symptoms, and was sent back to Philly to have tests run by team specialists.

Following his concussion like symptoms, Maxey was entered into the league's concussion protocol. He has missed four games, but it has now been revealed when he'll be back in action.

On Monday afternoon, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Maxey is now out of concussion protocol. He is expected to rejoin the team tomorrow and be in the lineup against the New York Knicks Tuesday night.

Tuesday will be the second meeting between the Sixers and Knicks this week. Despite being so shorthanded, Philly managed to pick up a win on Sunday in a low-scoring affair. Now, they'll be getting some reinforcements in the form of their lead guard.

Maxey has had a breakout year in 2024 following the departure of James Harden. In 55 games, he is averaging 26.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG, and 6.3 APG.

It goes without saying how big a boost getting Maxey back is for the Sixers. He has been the focal point of the offense with Embiid on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

Having Maxey back in the lineup will also help the Sixers' efforts of staying afloat in the Eastern Conference. Currently, they sit in sixth place with 36-28 record. Picking up another win over the Knicks Tuesday would put them in striking distance of a top-four seed again.
