The Chicago Bulls are adding a veteran guard to improve their depth. With Patrick Beverley hitting the free agency market after getting traded away from the Los Angeles Lakers to the rebuilding Orlando Magic, Beverley is soon-to-be suiting up for the Chicago Bulls.

According to a report from ESPN, Beverley is finalizing a deal with the Bulls. The deal is likely to be complete on Tuesday.

This season, Chicago has been one of the more disappointing teams in the Eastern Conference. After establishing themselves as playoff contenders last year, the Bulls seemed primed to remain playoff contenders for years to come.

At the All-Star break, the Bulls hold a record of 26-33. They are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference and entered the break on a six-game losing streak.

Going into the NBA trade deadline, many speculated that the Bulls could become sellers and look to re-tool after adding critical pieces two offseasons ago. The Bulls remained intact and are looking to add veterans that could help save their season.

This year, Beverley started in 45 games for the Lakers. Averaging 27 minutes on the floor, he’s put up six points per game while draining 40 percent of his field goal attempts. From deep, Beverley has averaged 35 percent.

While Beverley brings depth, defensive toughness, and veteran experience to a Bulls team that’s looking to turn things around post-All-Star break, Chicago has a tough road ahead.

If the Bulls crack one of the lower seeds in the playoffs through the Play-In, the Philadelphia 76ers could very well run into Beverley and the Bulls during the early stages of the postseason in a couple of months.
