76ers: Takeaways From Blowout Victory vs. Hornets

In this story:
Fresh off their win against the Detroit Pistons Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers hit the road for the second leg of a back-to-back. Next up on the schedule was a matchup against a very shorthanded Charlotte Hornets team.
Joel Embiid and company set the tone early and never looked back. Despite playing last night and traveling, they were able to take care of business against the Hornets. The Sixers ended up winning in convincing fashion to extend their winning streak to six games. Here are some takeaways from the blowout victory.
Bringing the energy
As mentioned, the Sixers found themselves in the tough situation of a home/road back-to-back. Matchups like this are considered trap games, but it did not seem to phase them.
The starters getting off their feet early last night certainly helped, and it showed on Saturday. Based on the level of energy they played it, the Sixers did not look like a group that had a game the night before.
Times like this are where have extensive depth comes in handy. With so many players able to come in and produce, it allows the Sixers to remain fresh during bust stretches of the schedule.
Taking care of business
During this win streak, the Sixers have faced off against some lowly opponents. Their ability to continue taking care of business is a testament to their heightened focus this season.
A true sign of being a contender is beating the teams you're supposed to on a regular basis. Sixers teams in the past have been caught sleepwalking against lowly opponents like the Hornets before. However, that has not been the case throughout this win streak.
Another Joel Embiid masterclass
A major catalyst in the Sixers' win streak has been the dominant play of Joel Embiid. The reigning MVP turned in another impressive showing against the shorthanded Hornets.
With minimal options to defend him, Embiid went to work fast to create separation. Following an 18-point first quarter, the Sixers star went on to have another 40+ point performance.
In under 30 minutes of action, Embiid posted a stat line of 42 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists. The Hornets struggled to make life difficult for him as he converted 17 of his 23 shot attempts.
With this performance Embiid extends his streak to ten games with at least 30 points and ten rebounds.
