76ers Veteran Wishes He Played Entire Career in Philly

In this story:
After spending several seasons bouncing around the NBA, Patrick Beverley made his way to the Philadelphia 76ers via free agency this past offseason.
While Beverley is frequently viewed as a pest of a player to opposing organizations, the gritty mentality he plays with tends to win fans of his team over rather quickly. To no surprise, that’s how his 22-game stint with the Sixers has gone so far.
The love is mutual, too. As Beverley navigates through his first run with the Sixers at 35 years old, it appears he wishes he had started his NBA days in Philly.
On Wednesday, the standout reserve took to Twitter to claim he’s an athlete who should have played his entire career in Philly but didn’t.

When Beverley made it to the NBA in 2009 as a second-round selection by the Los Angeles Lakers, he played outside of the NBA until 2013. After runs in Greece and Russia, Beverley inked a multi-year deal with the Houston Rockets.
Beverley carved out a role for himself in Houston, which led to a five-season stint. In 2017, Beverley was moved to the Los Angeles Clippers in an offseason blockbuster trade headlined by Chris Paul.
Once again, Beverley churned out several seasons with the same team. He spent four years in LA, collecting 177 games. Following his fourth season with the Clippers, Beverley was moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he played the entire 2021-2022 season.
The following summer, Beverley was moved for the third straight offseason. He spent his first 45 games of the season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Ahead of the 2023 trade deadline, Beverley was an in-season trade candidate, landing with the Orlando Magic. A few days later, Beverley had his contract bought out. He returned to his hometown of Chicago to play for the Bulls.
Wherever Beverley went, he was beloved, but his connection with Philadelphia is unsurprisingly on another level. While he can’t change the past, Beverley seems to be making the most of every moment with the 76ers at this point in time.
