76ers vs. Celtics: Betting Odds & Prediction for Game 1

For the last week-plus, the Philadelphia 76ers practiced while paying attention to the first-round series between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks.

After six games, the Celtics finally eliminated the Hawks, which created a second-round series between the 76ers and the Celtics.

On Monday, the Sixers and the Celtics will begin the Eastern Conference Semifinals series with a Game 1 matchup at TD Garden Arena.

During the regular season, the Celtics found plenty of success against the Sixers, even at times when they were shorthanded. In four matchups, the Celtics won all but the final matchup against the Sixers, which occurred during the final stretch of the regular season.

As the Sixers hope to find different results in the postseason, they face a tough scenario as their All-Star center Joel Embiid is battling an injury during the playoffs once again.

Last week, Embiid was diagnosed with a knee sprain. Going into the matchup, the big man was listed as doubtful. While many hoped that Embiid’s initial status on the injury report was just a smokescreen, he won't make his return on Monday night. It seems the Sixers will leave the door open for Embiid to potentially return in Game 2.

Meanwhile, the Celtics will enter the matchup with all of their core players healthy. A shorthanded Sixers team will search for an upset on the road for Game 1.
