76ers vs. Celtics: Joel Embiid’s Injury Report Status for Game 1

In this story:
The Philadelphia 76ers are finally set to take the floor on Monday night after getting over a week off. For Sixers center Joel Embiid, he might continue to get some rest as he deals with a knee injury.
According to the 76ers’ injury report, Embiid is doubtful for Monday’s Game 1 matchup against the Boston Celtics. Per the injury report, Embiid is battling a knee sprain.
Last week, it was reported that Embiid had suffered an LCL sprain during the Sixers’ Game 3 matchup against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. Over the weekend, Embiid’s injury was described as “worse” than a Grade 1 LCL sprain.
The Sixers haven’t put out a detailed update regarding Embiid’s knee sprain, but they have made it clear that he is unlikely to play in Monday’s Game 1 matchup.
“There is no latest. Obviously, doctors looked at him.. He didn’t do anything today. I’ll say this; If I was a betting man, I would probably say doubtful, but we’ll see,” Doc Rivers said following Saturday’s practice.
On Sunday, Embiid was spotted in practice gear, putting up shots after the team’s practice session. While Rivers revealed that Embiid “did a little bit more” on Sunday, the big man still wasn’t a participant at practice.

“He didn’t do any running or anything like that. He just did some shooting and stuff. He’s better… He’s progressing,” said Rivers. “There’s been optimism all along. You also got to be realistic. I just don’t know. He’s still doubtful, but he’s improving daily and that’s good for us.”
The Sixers are leaving the door open for Embiid to make his 2023 second-round debut on Monday night, but the chances of that happening for Game 1 seem unlikely, considering he hasn’t practiced with the team all week.
