76ers vs. Pacers: Joel Embiid Could Miss Tuesday’s Rematch

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to return to the floor for a rematch against the Indiana Pacers. This time around, the Sixers could be without their star center, Joel Embiid

When the Sixers released their injury report on Monday night, Embiid was added and considered questionable for the rematch. Embiid is currently dealing with soreness in his left hip.

Tuesday’s game against the Pacers is the front of a back-to-back set for the Sixers. On Wednesday, the 76ers will return to their court at the Wells Fargo Center to host the Boston Celtics, which complicates Embiid’s situation a bit.

Lately, the Sixers have been on quite the tear. Since dropping their first game of the year against the Milwaukee Bucks at the season opener, the Sixers have fired off eight-straight victories, including wins over the Pacers and the Celtics.

During that stretch, Embiid has been playing some of his best two-way basketball. In the opening nine games of the year, Embiid has averaged 33.8 minutes on the court. Fortunately, comfortable leads have allowed the star center to get some early rest at times.

But with Embiid facing a back-to-back, and reported hip soreness, the team will consider a possible game off for the six-time All-Star, which would be well-deserved.

In Embiid’s 33 minutes of action, he’s averaged 32 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks while shooting 51 percent from the field and 36 percent from three. He’s helped the Sixers start the year off with an NBA’s best 8-1 record.

There’s still plenty of basketball left to be played this year. So, if Embiid isn’t one hundred percent, the Sixers should consider giving him a night off as they go toe-to-toe with the Pacers once again.
