Denver Nuggets Fans Fail With Attempt to Troll 76ers’ Joel Embiid

Denver Nuggets fans most likely agreed with former NBA center Kendrick Perkins when he said he wanted to see Nikola Jokic have an opportunity to “get his lick back” against Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid.

In the first outing Embiid faced off against Jokic, the Sixers’ big man won the scoring battle 47-24 and out-rebounded Jokic by ten boards. While Jokic collected four more assists, Embiid’s two-way impact on the floor allowed the Sixers to take down the Nuggets at home.

Monday’s game was the second and final time the two MVP finalists had an opportunity to face each other, but a calf injury prevented the Sixers from clearing Embiid for action.

Last week, Embiid mentioned he was dealing with calf tightness. The big man missed the entire second half of the matchup against the Chicago Bulls last Wednesday and entered Friday and Saturday’s games against the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns as questionable.

While Embiid played in both matchups, he didn’t feel great during shootaround on Monday morning. Therefore, the Sixers realized there was no sense in risking further injury and ruled Embiid out.

Nuggets fans were understandably disappointed. And in an attempt to troll Embiid, “Missing Person” posters with Embiid’s face were posted all around Ball Arena on Monday night.

The idea was clever, considering Embiid hasn’t played a game in Denver since 2019 — but the creators of the poster executed it poorly.

Not only is Embiid’s name spelled wrong, but the second part of the description didn’t make any sense. “No first team All-Stars,” was likely a failed attempt to point out that Embiid has never been named First Team All-NBA.

The troll master Joel Embiid would likely applaud the attempt, but Nuggets fans did not come correct with the execution. Fortunately for them, their team got the win. Although the Sixers’ lineup of reserves nearly completed a comeback from a 22-point deficit, the Nuggets put Philly away once and for all with a 116-111 win.
