NBA Adds Two Games for Philadelphia 76ers Next Week

In this story:
The Philadelphia 76ers will not advance past the group stage in the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament. As a result, they’ll continue their regular season with two games added to their schedule.
On Wednesday, December 6, the Sixers will pay a visit to the Washington Wizards. The game is set to begin at 7 PM ET.
Two nights later, on Friday, December 8, the 76ers will host the Atlanta Hawks, with tip-off going down at 7 PM ET.
While the situation is understandably disappointing for the Sixers, who lost out to the Indiana Pacers in the group stage, they can now continue the regular season business as usual and focus on the bigger picture.
When the Sixers pay a visit to the Wizards for the first time next Wednesday, it will mark the second outing between the two Eastern Conference competitors this season. Earlier this month, the Wizards paid a visit to Philadelphia and found themselves collecting a blowout loss.
Washington’s major shortcomings came at the hands of Joel Embiid, who put on an extremely dominant performance. With an incredibly efficient shooting performance, Embiid dropped 48 points on the Wizards en route to a 146-128 victory.
The Hawks struggled to find success against the Sixers in their first outing versus Philadelphia as well. Although Atlanta had the home-court advantage, a strong second-half showing by the Sixers led to a 126-116 outcome in favor of the Sixers.
When Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris combined for 61 points, the Sixers were battling it out in the In-Season Tournament. The Hawks were one of the Sixers’ two victories in the group phase.
Despite finding themselves outside of tournament play, the Sixers have found success through the regular season so far. Heading into their Wednesday night matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia holds a 12-5 record, which places them tied for third place with the Orlando Magic. They are trailed by the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers and trail the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics.
With their two matchups added to next week’s slate, the Sixers should find themselves favored, as they hold a 2-0 record over the opponents, who hold a combined 11-23 record.
