New York Knicks Surpass 76ers in Eastern Conference Standings

In this story:
It’s safe to say the New York Knicks are on quite a hot streak. Despite losing a key starter recently as Julius Randle went down with a shoulder injury, the Knicks have stuck to their winning ways.
Before New York tipped off their matchup against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, they were on the heels of the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference standings.
With a victory over the Jazz, the Knicks found themselves out in front of the Sixers before Philadelphia tipped off against the Golden State Warriors late on Tuesday night.
Throughout the first half of the season, the Sixers have maintained their position as one of the top three teams in the East alongside the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks. However, the Knicks are putting the conference on notice with their latest stretch.
After taking down the Jazz on Tuesday night, New York collected their eighth-straight victory, which is currently the NBA’s best streak. They hold a 31-17 record overall and are 21-10 in the Eastern Conference.
To compare, the Sixers are 29-17, with a 19-11 record when it comes to conference play.
This season, the Sixers and the Knicks will battle it out four times as usual. So far, the Atlantic Division rivals have faced each other just once, and New York surely got the best of the Sixers in South Philly.
Despite being the road team, the Knicks destroyed the Sixers 128-92. It was the Sixers’ worst loss of the year to date.
The two teams will meet for the second time this year on February 22. By then, both teams could still be battling for the third spot.
