On Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers opened up their season with a close 117-118 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Despite trailing by 19 points at one moment, the Sixers' offense pushed through and brought the game back, which in large part can be attributed to Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey ended the night with a team-high 31 points and eight assists while shooting 45 percent from the field.

Granted, from the early goings, it didn't look as if Maxey was himself, only managing to convert one shot in the opening quarter while committing two fouls in the process, which saw him get benched earlier than expected.

From that point on, Maxey got into the rhythm of the game, scoring 11 in the second, draining key threes in the latter half of the game, while also finding his way to the free throw line ten times.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse talked about Maxey's offensive showcase, highlighting his ups and downs against the Bucks.

"I thought he did a good job of getting downhill, drawing contact, getting in the lane and all that stuff" said Nurse, "he didn't really have it going there for a long stretch, and for him to bounce back... it was good."

While the former Kentucky guard led the team's offensive charge, Kelly Oubre provided more than his fair share from the bench, dropping 27 points, including a team-high five makes from three-point land.

Nurse highlighted the importance of his contributions given that De'Anthony Melton was having an off night, shooting a lackluster 30 percent from the field, converting it into ten points.

"He did a good job, it was one of those we need a bench guy to fill in, Melt [Melton] was having a bit of a tough night from the field so it was nice to replace that right there, we certainly needed it tonight from him," explained Nurse.
