At the 2024 NBA trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers were quite active.

As expected, several deals involving the Sixers took place. As a result, a handful of players were outgoing, joining new squads. Some, however, were traded and waived, allowing them an opportunity to search for their next landing spot via free agency.

Philadelphia native Marcus Morris is on the path to joining his third team this season. After beginning the year as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Morris was involved in the James Harden blockbuster trade, which sent him to his hometown hoops team, the Sixers.

While Morris was living out a dream, he knew it might only be for a short period of time. As he might’ve expected, Morris was dealt away on the day of the deadline.

In the Sixers’ first of four trades on deadline day, they sent Morris and Furkan Korkmaz to the Indiana Pacers and the San Antonio Spurs in the deal that landed them Buddy Hield. Not long after the Spurs and the Pacers acquired the contract of the two Sixers, they made it clear they planned to waive both of them.

It’s unclear what’s next for Korkmaz, but it seems Morris is targeting the Minnesota Timberwolves as his next destination, according to Patrick Beverley’s podcast X account.

This season, the Pat Bev Pod X account is 1-1 on breaking news. On the day of the deadline, the account announced Patrick Beverley’s trade to the Milwaukee Bucks first. Considering Beverley has described Morris as one of his closest friends during their short tenure together on the 76ers, one can assume that Morris tipped the veteran guard off to the news that he’s eyeing Minnesota.

At 34 years old, Morris is searching for an opportunity to help a playoff contender. This season, he appeared in 37 games with the 76ers, averaging 17 minutes on the court during that time. He produced seven points per game while draining 44 percent of his shots.

Currently, the Timberwolves place first in the Western Conference with a 36-16 record. They are neck and neck with Morris’s previous team, the Los Angeles Clippers.
