Sixers vs Kings: Daryl Morey’s Social Media Reaction to Tobias Harris

In this story:
Tobias Harris faced an offseason full of trade rumors throughout the summer of 2023. As rumors spread, Harris took an opportunity to speak for himself during an offseason event at the Wells Fargo Center.
“Casual Sixers fans they’ll trade me for a Crumbl Cookie,” said Harris, tipping his cap to the company he often promotes as he’s an investor and ambassador. “But at the end of the day, they have to realize you’re not getting a 6'9" forward back who can, you know, damn near shoot 40% from 3, guard other team’s best player, shoot, post up, drive, play 70 plus games a year.”
76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey piggy-backed off Harris’ viral quote just days later. He took to social media to post a picture of himself in front of the first Cumbl Cookies location to send a message to Harris.
“Don’t worry, Tobias,” Morey said on X. “No casual fans in sight here.”
Morey’s social media post suggested that there was no bad blood between Harris and himself, despite the veteran forward’s name popping up in trade rumors frequently over the years since Morey took over as the team’s President of Basketball Ops.
After Harris’ impressive showing against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, Morey celebrated in trolling fashion on social media, alluding to this past summer’s collection of viral posts regarding Harris.

With 36 minutes of playing time on Friday night, Harris took advantage of a Joel Embiid-less starting five once again. For the second straight game, Harris churned out over 30 points in the scoring department.
He nearly notched his career-high in the category as he scored 37 points. In addition to his scoring production, Harris teased a double-double with seven rebounds and also added three assists and three steals to his stat line.
Harris took the opportunity to silence his doubters during Friday night’s comfortable win over the Kings. He’ll get a couple of days off before hitting the court once again to take on the Houston Rockets on Monday afternoon.
