Late in the game and with the Milwaukee Bucks looking to close out the Chicago Bulls, Khris Middleton posted up former teammate Jevon Carter along the baseline.

Middleton tried to spin to his right, and as DeMar DeRozan came to double team and tried to reach for the ball, he pivoted to his left and took a good-looking fadeaway jumper.

Overtaking his mentor

The shot hit nothing but the bottom of the net, marking a significant milestone in Middleton’s career as the field goal made him the fifth all-time leading scorer in Bucks history.

Middleton cemented his status as one of the greatest players to ever don the Milwaukee jersey by scoring 13 points in the Bucks’ 118-109 win over the Bulls on Monday night at the Fiserv Forum.

Now with 11,555 points as a Milwaukee player, Khris has overtook his “mentor” Michael Redd, who accumulated 11,554 points.

Elite group

In completing the feat, the 11-year-veteran paid tribute to Redd, who played 11 seasons in Milwaukee.

“Salute to Michael Redd. He’s been a mentor of mine since I came to Milwaukee. I took over his number (No. 22) a little bit. He's been a great person to reach out to from time to time and talk to,” said the three-time All-Star.

Khris, who joined the Bucks on July 13, 2013, is just a few points behind Sidney Moncrief, who is in fourth place with 11,594 points.

Leading the elite group of Milwaukee players is Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has 16,540 points. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is second with 14,211 and is followed by Glenn Robinson with 12,010.
