"He was the greatest player definitely" - Scottie Pippen said Bulls' success helped Michael Jordan reach GOAT status

While he believes that MJ is the best, Pip believes that he had the support of the best squad that he could ever have.

Despite forming one of the greatest one-two-punch tandems and cementing themselves as the foundation of the Chicago Bulls' six championships, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen today are not so close. 

Their bond reached a breaking point during the worldwide release of “The Last Dance” in which Pip ripped MJ for subjecting the documentary to one-sided propaganda that only romanticized him. At that point, the distance between both sides became even wider, much of the intrigue of the entire basketball world.

But regardless of the rocky things that took place, Pip remains considerate in his basketball perspective that MJ is still the best ever to play.

MJ had a squad

In a recent appearance on Today Show Australia, Pippen was asked if he thinks Jordan is the greatest basketball player. As such, he didn't hesitate to claim that his former running mate is indeed the one, while also acknowledging that the Bulls’ team's success helped him secure the status.

“For sure. You look at the MVPs he was able to achieve but I think it was all brought from us being successful as a team. Obviously someone's gonna bring those accolades home but yeah, he was the greatest player, definitely, in basketball."

What will be the next for Pip and MJ?

Throughout the years, Pippen subjected himself to controversies as he constantly flipped his GOAT regarding both MJ and LeBron James. But this latest answer he dished couldn't be more interesting considering that he, Horace Grant, and Luc Longley are currently campaigning for the “No Bull” tour in Australia, which aims to discuss the untold stories about MJ and their glorious dynastic run in the ‘90s which weren't portrayed in “The Last Dance” documentary.

It is yet to be seen what the next take of Pippen about Jordan would be. But for the Bulls fans, they can only hope that the two will finally settle their differences and mend their fences once and for all.
